Tired Eyes is a short story about the restless pursuit of that which brings you light, and the lonely, uncertain journey of walking your own path.

It is based on a poem called Sweet Darkness by David Whyte. It’s a poem that felt very personal the first time I heard it. It was one of the loneliest periods of my life and Sweet Darkness echoed my reality—becoming a reminder and a confirmation of why I was doing what I was doing.

When your eyes are tired the world is tired also. When your vision has gone, no part of the world can find you. Time to go into the dark where the night has eyes to recognize its own. There you can be sure you are not beyond love. The dark will be your home tonight. The night will give you a horizon further than you can see. You must learn one thing. The world was made to be free in. Give up all the other worlds except the one to which you belong. Sometimes it takes darkness and the sweet confinement of your aloneness to learn anything or anyone that does not bring you alive is too small for you.

I guess my case/testimony is not from the perspective of a filmmaker, but a generalist who now has found one more avenue to explore ideas.

Tired Eyes is my first short film and my first “AI Film.”
